Taking the Hunt Abroad

There is a tremendous variety of big game on offer within North America – and it’s hard to imagine a hunter who wasn’t satisfied with the options available. However, some sportsmen are attracted to the call of something bigger or more unique. For these hunters, an outfitter is usually the best resource.Whether you’re interested in going after the exotic game of Africa or a more unique indigenous species elsewhere in the world, you’ll need to be prepared. Do your research, choose your outfitter with extreme caution and make sure you have the requisite visas for taking firearms, as well as hunting in the foreign country you’ll visit. While you’re at it, brush up on the regulations for hunting the game you’re after wherever you’re going to go. And double check the import/export laws as they pertain to bringing home the proceeds of the hunt or you might find yourself facing stiff penalties at the border. Always be sure to provide full details of your planned itinerary, a copy of your passport and the contact number of your hunt outfitter with someone back home. If there’s an emergency, you’ll be glad you did.
